Majohn/Moonman flex nib in a Jinhao 9019

So I recently received the Majohn/Moonman flex nib that’s been everywhere lately, I was planning on swapping it into a Hongdian A6 that’s on the way but I impatiently decided to take the unit apart to try and understand how they could fit that nib in there with such tight tolerances. One heavily damaged feed later, it turns out I wasn’t able to reinsert the nib and feed together into the unit section.

So I decided why not try and see if this nib can fit on other pens, first I tried my Kaweco because that would be pretty funny but it was too big… then I turned my eyes towards this fat nibbed behemoth.

The Jinhao 9019 DADAO, fortunately for me it fits and works exceedingly well, at least it exceeds my very low expectations of the nib and pen combo.

The feed keeps up if you go slowly, however when I was writing this section it started running out of ink but through my use the previous day it kept up pretty well.

The nib is pretty soft, but not a wet noodle per se. It’s more of an expressive nib that spends its time making very fine lines until you add just the right amount of medium pressure at the right part of your downstrokes. (Yeah I realise I’ve just described a flex nib, it is a flexer but with my setup I haven’t tried pushing it beyond about double its regular line width. That’s where it worked the best for me so far)

P.S. How do you guys take your writing pictures because my picture processing absolutely obliterates any nuance in ink colour on the page. Either it’s all over exposed or it looks grey and dull like it was taken through someone’s tights?

So while my car’s at the garage, I took some time to reflect on my relationship with my Montblanc for BMW 146 (& BMW as a whole).

At first there were fireworks, but soon that turned into splotches and hard starts, no thanks in part to Platinum Carbon Black’s fine pigment partials clogging up my pen’s internals. (Yeah I know I shouldn’t have but I still did…)

Meanwhile in the “real” world another thick black viscous goo was wreaking havoc on my car’s internals. It was time for a deep clean, but try as I might the damage was already done.

How coincidental that both “Beamers” would suddenly experience technical difficulties around the same time.
They really put the BMW into ‘Montblanc For BMW Meisterstück’.

Anyways all will be fine in the end, but remember kids, regularly replace your ink, and your oil while you’re at it.
Preventative maintenance is much cheaper than emergency repairs.

I hope you can enjoy shot of this beautiful Lamy Petrol ink pooling on my misaligned thines.

P.S. Anyone ever notice how the decorative elements on the MB Two Tone Nib kinda suggest the head of a snake with eyes either side almost like a reference to the original Rouge et Noire ?
