I'm in Scotland, so I'm changing my name via Statutory Declaration as deed polls are in a weird grey area here. Question is pretty much as per my title: if you legally change your name but do not disclose your new name to anyone, can you just continue to live with your old name free of consequence?

I'd like to get my name change out of the way, but I'm not entirely ready to be out yet, so I'd like to iron out any nuances before I commit to anything.
