10-Year Goal: 2019 CX-5 Signature (Turbo) vs. 2021 GT
Hey everyone,
I’m 22, living in Canada (half the year is heavy winter
and buying my first car. Goal is to keep it for at least 10 years and I only drive 10k km a year
The Cars:
- 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature ($25k, 100k km): Turbo + Nappa leather. Cheaper, but older screen.
- 2021 Mazda CX-5 GT ($30k, 110k km): Non-Turbo (NA) + New 10" screen. $5k more for higher mileage.
- 2022 Hyundai Tucson: Techy, but prefer Mazda driving feel.
Financials: $15k down, $1k/month savings for car costs.
Questions:
• Reliability: For a 10-year hold, is the Mazda Turbo a liability compared to the NA engine?
• Insurance: How much will the "Signature/Turbo" trim hurt my rates as a 22yo new driver vs. the GT?
• Tech: Is the 2021 screen worth the $5k jump, or should I save that for maintenance/insurance?
• Wildcards: Any better SUVs for the Alberta rust belt under $25k-30k?
Thanks in advance.
