For some context, these black “pods” come out every spring on these trees in my backyard. I currently reside in the most northern part of Central Illinois, bonus points if it helps you identify where I’m at by saying the Chicago Bears used to have training camp in my area.

I want to know if the trees are diseased, if I need to avoid them when I’m cutting my grass, etc.
