Im possibly looking to buy a '99 with the 4.8 and a 5 speed local to me, seller is asking $5k, it appears to be in really good condition but the only downside is that it has roughly 300k miles. I've never owned a gmt800 but as a mechanic I've worked on a decent amount of them, I know besides basic maintenance parts like cv axles, wheel bearings, plugs/coils, their only major achilles heel is the automatic transmission, which is why I'm not against buying a high mileage manual one. Does anybody have experience taking these early Silverados far past 300k? I'm hoping that after basic maintenance I can make this a reliable daily driver for the next few years and something I can take on trips.
