Hi,

I may have the opportunity to do a 6-month internship in Sapporo. Before accepting it I’m trying to understand how doable it would be financially and logistically.

I already lived in Japan for one year in Fukuoka as an exchange student. Back then I was helped a lot by the university for housing and admin things. This time it would be very different, since I would have to figure everything out on my own.

So I wanted to ask people living in Sapporo:

How difficult is it to rent an apartment for only 6 months (as a foreigner)?

Is that something landlords/agencies usually accept, or is it complicated?

Would I need to look more into share houses / monthly apartments / furnished places instead?

What is the cost of living like overall in Sapporo?

Also, if anyone has advice about initial fees, guarantors, foreigner-friendly agencies, heating costs in winter, or anything else I should keep in mind, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you so much!
