I am seeking advice about driving my 1999 Honda CRV from NC to GA 310 miles. Or rent a 10’ uhaul and have my car shipped on a flatbed (I have a contact). I do not have furniture so it would be easy uhaul drive and I can take all my possessions what little I have.
I am not sure if I could drive my Honda. Car has been in garage/driven little by my retired mom/well maintained. Since 2018, when I took it for my own, there has been exposure to the elements and a little more driving. I do not drive much mileage. I can estimate 5K miles per year since 2018 since I have it.
195,000 miles. I baby my Honda. When it is freezing, I warm up 10 minutes at least. I believe there is much more mileage I can drive which is why I am keeping car. I have maintained consistently with tires, oil change, new radiator, catalytic converter (ripped off with twice replaced), celanoid replaced, tierods replaced, O-ring gasket replaced . I keep a log. I check fluids. I need power steering pump replaced currently as it is leaking now more and more.
The only LD trips have been in 2017 round trip from FLA to GA ~1000 miles and one way FL to NC ~1000 miles. I have driven for Instacart 2023 for 3 months but not much mileage and only less than 10 mile radius trips in my small town.
I checked the oil one time and filled it but forgot to put on the cap and it spewed under the hood years ago. QUESTION: Would that still have a burning smell? I need to make it a project to clean it. (I know stupid).
There is a bit of a hesitation sometimes when I drive with the gas pedal and maybe that is the filter that needs to be changed. I am barely due for an oil change and planning now. I really want to drive 310 miles and forget about uhaul and shipping my car. With driving a uhaul I can take much more of my things. With my Honda, I have to leave things behind forever which was not a big expense. I cannot sell Honda and I cannot buy another car. Of course, driving my Honda is easier and less stress and cost less.
QUESTION: Would my car make it 310 miles with an oil change, new power steering pump, overall checkup, new spare tire?
(My last oil change was 12/2024 at 193K and I have not driven 3K in 1 year)
