Mental toll
hey guys
I have been investing 20k in mf (hdfc funds) since i got my first job in 2022.
It has been 40 months now and my portfolio is something around 9.7lakhs, and i have invested 8.6lacs (8lacs sip + 60k lumpsum).
My current XIRR is 7.23%.
Now the conversation bit, i don't really look into numbers that often, my dad is the investor who takes care of everything so i just send him money and from time to time ask how is everything going on.
Last December the total value was around 10.2lacs and xirr was 12%+ if i remember correctly.
But now seeing 7.23% has kinda demotivated me, have i made some mistake investing in mf, should i have gone with some govt schemes like mis, nsc or ppfs??
Will this recover back to 12% xirr??
And most importantly let's say i continue for 300months and then again something like war happens again? what then? will my investments be fruitful??
I don't want to stop my sips and i fully trust that markets will recover. I just need someone to talk sense into me that all of this is normal in markets and things get back up sooner than later.
