I’ve had an ng tube in for almost 6 months. I know it’s longer than it’s really supposed to be in, but the doctor said there’s no rush to remove it if you can still push food through it and to just remove it when I’m ready. I’m ready now and have an appointment for Tuesday, but they said I could always remove it myself at home if I want.

I’m feeling very tempted to just pull it out right now, but I’m worried about my throat. Tomorrow I have a ttrpg game and I need to be able to speak for that so I don’t want a sore throat from pulling it out. I’ve had the tube in for long enough that it doesn’t hurt to have it in, so I don’t really want to mess with it if it might compromise my throat.

What was it like for you when you had your tube removed? Was your throat sore after, and for how long? Were you able to speak after without uncomfortableness or pain?
