I’m a territory sales rep manufacturing equipment. I’ve been in the role for a number of years, and have consistently grown business and my earnings. Last year I broke $200k for the first time. My problem is that our largest vendor is in turmoil, nearly all my customers are pissed (million dollar machines getting returned), and that vendor accounts for 75% of my income. I have a non compete with my employer in a state where that matters. I’m having a hard time doing my job because I’m so mad at my vendor, which isn’t fair to my employer. Things have been really bad for 4-6 months now, and it’s about to start hitting my paycheck. How long do you stick it out in a situation like this. I love my job and customers. Most people would kill for the kind of freedom I have day to day, though there are zero retirement benefits (small company). I know that in field sales people who stay in a role make more money. I want to keep doing this, but I’m not sure I can continue.
