Edit: Title is supposed to say “not”.

Hi friends.

My husband and I signed a contract on our first home on 4/14. We live in NC. We paid due diligence. The realtor set up the inspection with an inspector they usually work with. We met him and he seemed legit. Morning on scheduled inspection my realtor said she got confirmation that utilities were on that morning. Inspector gets there and says nothing is on. He calls the power company and gets electricity turned on but can’t get water or gas. This was on 4/23. There’s some back and forth between me and the realtor, me asking what’s going on? Should we be worried? And her saying don’t worry it’s normal for utilities to be off on vacant homes. She says the utility company is taking forever to get back to them. This is all new to us, it’s a frick ton of money to be using and I am starting to get pissed and already worried about this. Like, are the sellers hiding something? There’s a hole in the wall cut out in one bathroom to get to plumbing pipes and we just want to know if it’s a problem. Is it actually normal or does my agent need a fire lit under her to get this solved? I feel like I’m out of the loop and being told “don’t worry “ makes me more worried. (yes I need therapy but that’s another issue) idk why they can’t just turn it on?
