Hey, If you’ve ever hunted for a flat or a flatmate, you already know the grind. You end up with 15 tabs open, scrolling endlessly through various "Flat and Flatmates" Facebook groups and Reddit threads. You leave comments that get ignored, shoot DMs, and then... nothing. Your messages just sit there and rot in their message requests folder, or you finally get a reply two weeks later saying, "Sorry, it's already taken."
I’m working on a project to fix this, and before I officially launch the application, I want to get this community's honest opinions and suggestions to make sure it actually solves the problem.
Here is the core idea:
The Aggregator: The application pulls in and matches flatmate listings and requirements scattered across Facebook groups and Reddit forums into one unified dashboard.
The "Dead Listing" Bounty: The biggest issue with aggregators is stale data. To keep the application clean, it’s community-moderated. If you contact a listing and find out it's already occupied/dead, you report it.
The Reward: When you report a dead listing, we instantly credit your account with an extra contact credit to compensate you for the one you lost. The dead listing gets removed so no one else wastes their time.
What I need your help with:
• Be brutally honest: Is this an application you would actually use?
• The Bounty System: Does the "report for a free contact credit" model sound fair and useful?
• Blindspots: What features are missing? What are the biggest red flags you see with this model?
I’m building this marketplace application to scratch my own itch, but I want to build it right. Drop your thoughts, roasts, or suggestions below. Thanks!
