Does anyone else feel like dating after 40 is set to "God Mode" difficulty?
I’m 44, separated, and a full-time dad during the week. Between work and life, I try to make time to meet people, but I’ve hit a wall. I’ve gone on multiple dates recently where it became painfully obvious that the other person was just there for the free meal. No chemistry, no effort to talk—just showing up for the check.
Is this the new norm? How do you guys filter out the "foodies" and find people who actually want to connect (serious or casual)? Should I just stick to "coffee only" dates until someone proves they’re actually interested? Should I stop try? Maybe. FWB?
Is very very frustrating sometimes..

After dissecting the production on Sabrina Carpenter’s latest tracks, specifically from the Man's Best Friend era (2025), there is an undeniable shift toward the high-gloss, disco-pop sophistication pioneered by Kylie Minogue. The vocal delivery relies on a breathy, atmospheric texture that mirrors Kylie’s iconic early 2000s presence, moving away from the standard radio-pop formula.

This evolution highlights a stark contrast with the current 'Mainstream Standard.' While artists like Taylor Swift have built a massive empire on relatable, narrative-driven lyrics, the actual sonic depth often feels somewhat 'sanitized' or even juvenile by comparison. Swift’s brand leans heavily into a high-school-esque storytelling aesthetic that, while successful, lacks the provocative and mature grit found in the Minogue-inspired lane that Sabrina is now occupying.

It raises a question about our current pop landscape: Are we prioritizing 'relatability' and 'vanilla' marketing over genuine performance and vocal edge? I’d love to hear some technical takes on whether Sabrina is successfully reviving this more mature synth-pop style or if Taylor’s safer approach is still the peak of the genre.
