So, after seeing the email about the Rosalyn today, I decided to reach out to the advisor on UoPeople. I also asked about the laptop requirement and this is what I got as an answer:
Yes, starting Term 5, UoPeople is transitioning to Rosalyn as the new proctoring system for all ENG undergraduate students. This means ProctorU and the offline proctor option will no longer be available for T5 registrations onward — proctoring will be handled entirely through the Rosalyn online platform.
Regarding your laptop concern — the good news is that Rosalyn's requirements are quite modest:
Desktop or laptop (Windows or macOS)
2 GB RAM minimum, 500 MB free disk space
Working camera and microphone
Stable internet (at least 500 kb/s)
Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browser
So most basic laptops should work fine.
