This is a very particular situation. I've lived in this apartment for 3 years in which I've only received a lease one time. I'm supposed to renew every 6 months because it's supposed to be income based but for the last 2 years, they'll ask for you to send income information for a lease renewal and then you'll never hear from them again. I used to get a rent bill every month in the mail and that stopped about 2 years ago as well. The number out front of the building is the wrong number and no one knows who to reach out to or what we're supposed to pay. Nothing in the mail about a lease or rent for over a year now.
I found out that I had been sending my rent to a completely random business, and when I call the business, they just sound confused. I don't think I've actually been paying anyone. My rent has gone to no one and I can't get answers so I stopped paying 6 months ago. Help.
