I'm an incoming freshman hoping to double major in pre business economics and biology in the College Scholars Program. I'm trying to knock out of my GE's over the summer, but I heard that the cluster program helps to cover several GE requirements. For instance, Food: Lens for Environment and Sustainability--Special Topics would get me both Writing II and Historical Analysis credits (?). In that case, is there a point in taking courses at CC when cluster courses are more efficient?

Incoming freshman at LA for pre business econ. I always hear that careers in business/banking/marketing are entirely built on networking and socializing, something I’m not looking forward to. Is there no way out of this? Are STEM careers less connections-based? Would appreciate any advice, thank you!

For the longest time, I was really set on doing chemistry/biology/pre-med but decided it was too expensive, intense, and lengthy.

I applied to college for business, and for economics where they didn't have business, and I committed to UCSD's Business Econ. However, now I'm hearing about how doomed this major is, especially at SD, and I still don't know if I'm truly set on the business route. Now I'm rethinking chemistry/bio, perhaps pharmaceuticals?

I also got into UCI, UCD, UCSB for bus/econ but already declined (deeply regretting), but I can appeal for UCI, which apparently has a much stronger business economics program than SD.

I guess now I have these options, in order of easiest to hardest:

1. Stick with SD business econ

2. Stick with SD and change my major (should be easy) to biology or bioengineering and then figure it out later?

3. Appeal to UCI business econ

4. Pray I get off UCLA business econ waitlist (I think I have an okay chance)

5. Pray I get off BU/Northwestern/Dartmouth waitlist for bus/econ

I would really appreciate any advice!
