F1 Visa Refused under 214(b)
Hi everyone,
I recently got refused for an F1 visa under 214(b) in India and I’m trying to understand what may have gone wrong.
Profile:
Engineering graduate from a top Indian university Currently working in Data/AI role Previous research internship in a top university in Canada Admitted to MS CS at UCSD I-20 amount around $73k Showed around $108k through SBI education loan + family savings
The interview was short. These were the questions and my answers:
VO: What do you work on now? Me: Analyst at XYZ, data pipelines and AI models
VO: This is expensive how are you gonna fund? Me: 54000 USD from SBI loan and 54000 USD from family savings.
VO: Have you been prosecuted in India? Me: No.
VO: Have you travelled outside of India? Me: Yes, Canada for research internship at University of Alberta
After the last question, I was immediately refused
Trying to understand what may have caused the refusal
Would appreciate honest opinions from people who’ve experienced F1 interviews/refusals before.
