Beginner Questions about Vetting Protein Powder

Hey everyone I(28F) just got back into working out and my goal is body recomp to turn my fat into muscle. I’ve tried protein powder before but I never properly vetted it. Apparently there is a way to do so but I’m not sure how since protein powder doesn’t need to be FDA approved. I’m trying to be more careful now since they found metals in protein powder. Does anyone have any suggestions to vet which one would be best for me or if they are safe to even consume? Bonus points if it’s a vegan pea protein because I love those and I’m allergic to whey protein.
