Cat can't stop vomiting for a week
Hello, this is my first post ever - let me know if I have to make any changes to it so it fits.
Tl;dr - my cat has been vomiting for a week anytime he eats/drinks something. Thought it was because of constipation (got drop, medication, antinauseus meds then he pooped, peed. After a few days became more vigorous and showed appetite but its bad again: vomiting, no appetite, he just lays hidden somewhere whole day.
Base info:
My 2,5yo male cat started vomiting around 1 week ago. He is neutered for about 2 years, suffered badly broken leg (fell from balcony about over a year ago) and 2 cases of very strong urinary problems (a severe case of cystitis and crystals in the urine).
He was found "on the street" when around 3months old, only "malfunction" He has (besides titanium splint and screws in the leg) is deviated nasal septum - lots of dirt and dust sticking to the nostrils which I clean every few days, sometimes his nose whistles etc but can breath just fine.
He is around 5kg, not fat, just not a small cat.
Before the vomiting:
No changes in routine, his behaviour was normal, food etc also w/o change. We live with a second female cat, they like each other. He grooms himslef regualrly, but never vomits the fur - i often see some fur or our hair in his poop tho. Can't even think of a foreing body that he could have eaten that would make him vomit so badly.
He started vomiting during the night - rest of the digested food, then gastric bile. In the morning he had appetite (very food motivated cat), he ate normally, had energy etc. Around 30 mins later he vomited everything. And it has been loke that since Wednesday/thrusday I think.
No fur, no foreing objects in the vomit. Almost always vomits EVERYTHING - water, snacks, kibble, wet food, no matter if the portion was small and of he was eating in normal tempo. Sometimes vomits 3-4 hours after eating, it can beultiple vomits delayed in time till he gets "empty" stomach.
Took him to vet (multiple times):
- got anti-nauseus injection
- got drip (the nutritious fluid they give you when you are malnourished etc)
- x-Ray didn't show a foreign object but it showed that he bad constipation... I thought my boy made a big deal bc he couldn't poop, but...
- After stool softening medication and more vet visits he did poop and pee but continues to vomit!!! :((
We will be going to the vet again today or tomorrow, but she doesn't know what else could it be.
My suspicion:
- not a swallowed object bc xray tech said he would behave very differently (way more lethargic, angry etc)
- he poops and pees now but his body tries to get rid of something... sth that wasn't visible on xray... maybe a clump of fur and human hair (3 ppl all long-haired) and it is stuck in the stomach or, because hair is long, it is partially in the stomach and partially in the gut and is stuck there?
- he gets human food sometimes: he stole a few bites of my salami a day or two before that happened. He has stolen sth from the trash etc quite a few times in his lifetime (he loves stealing bread lmao) and NEVER had an issue. No problem with changing kibble, dry to wet food, etc.
- he also got fed anti-fur/good for gut kibble that vet gave us (only 2 days on this kibble)
