I hold to the idea
that a person is never just one thing.
Because within me
there are two voices
sharing the same skin.
I am happy,
But sad.
I am good
and evil.
I am smart,
But also a fool,
and so much else.
I myself am a paradox,
an antithesis,
that's difficult to comprehend,
Yet hiding deep meaning.
I wake with certainty,
Yet sleep with doubt.
Build myself up,
just to tear myself down
in those quieter, lonely moments.
There are days
I recognize my reflection,
and days
it feels like a stranger
Has borrowed my face.
I speak with conviction,
yet question every word
after it leaves me.
I am both fire
and what it consumes,
the creator
and the undoing.
I think that is what it means
to exist
not choosing one side,
Just carrying both,
uneasily,
But honestly,
As one.
