We had Lowe’s install engineered hardwood floor in our basement about a year ago. Basement had carpet previously and has concrete floor underneath that. It is a well aired basement (opens out to outdoor) and there are no humidity issues. Floor was fine for several months of low usage. Over early part of this year, it had more use (more of Yoga and Dance practices and nothing else) when the hardwood slats started sliding causing the gaps you see in the pictures.

I had Lowe’s installer come and take a look and they also had the manufacturer inspect through third party. Now Lowe’s says the installer will come and apply glue to address the problem. Neither installer nor manufacturer is willing to describe what caused the problem and why this fix is good. I have reached out to Lowes to get clarity, but was hoping some experts here would have better insights.

The hardwood slats slide (towards wall) that causes these gaps. I just need to press my leg on a slat and push to cause that. Not all slats, but several). It is a 20’x25’ basement and possibly a dozen big (in the photo) to smallish (0.1” to 0.25”) gaps.

Is gluing (don’t know exactly what they will do, but will ask) the right fix or there are better ways to fix?

Appreciate your insights and help in advance

FWIW - gaps you see in the phot are about 0.5” (slats are mostly 2” slats). These are the biggest gaps
