Congratulations! You made it through BookCon!
If you are knew to the experience of BookCon, conventions in general, or just feel like you got hit by a truck and didn't realize your body can't handle this like it used to, I wanted to collect some tips to rest & recover physically and mentally from an overstimulating, physically demanding day (if yours was like that!)
- Heat! Soak in a hot bath, relax with heating pads, and cozy up with a warm beverage. Help your muscles relax.
- Elevate your feet! Pillows, blankets, whatever you have-- (just not a decorative pillow in a hotel room, they do NOT get cleaned) pile them up and put up your feet and legs. It helps the blood flow back up.
- Stretch! All the stretching!
- Water! Catch up on all the hydration you missed to avoid the bathroom line.
- Motrin (if you take medicines) NSAIDs help with inflammation, and I personally find Motrin good for muscles (just bad for stomachs so be careful.) [I am not a doctor, medicate at your own discretion]
- Eat! Make sure you get a real meal in you.
- Enjoy some quiet and let your brain reset!
If anyone wants to add anything, please feel free!
