Is it ever explained why Selena named Eragon after the first Dragon Rider? I can't imagine Eragon was a common name and, seeing as (Brisingr spoilers)>!his father is an enemy of the Empire and!<>! his mother is a fugitive of the Empire!<, giving him such a conspicuous (and almost political) name definitely wouldn't help him keep a low profile.
