Ferns of New Zealand 1860 (or so says the tag haha)
I found this piece at a local thrift store - it was leaning above the electronics, I hustled over there as soon as I saw it.
The back tag, as you can see, states what it is. I have limited knowledge, but also love plants, science, and antiques, so think it’s pretty cool. I did an image search and found a couple of interesting things, but was hoping for some more information (other than the obvious, that it is ferns and also old)
-What’s the best way to preserve these specimens? One of the ferns has partially detached - I didn’t want to touch anything without getting some information first. Are there specialists, or am I being overly cautious?
-is it best to donate these sorts of things? I know there are some issues, wasn’t sure if it was even worth going down this route? If so, who would be most benefited?
-While this is 100% my sort of art, I am too poor to have such nice things - and would like to sell if donating isn’t the answer. Would an auction house be ideal? I appreciate all of your insight!
