Colitis, flares, upcoming doctors appointment
I recently got diagnosed with colitis at the end of March when I was in and out of the emergency department for diarrhea and vomiting that wouldn’t stop (gravol and Imodium did not work). By day 5 of diarrhea and the third visit they did a CT scan which confirmed the inflammation and colitis.
Since that time I’ve had 3-4 flares in total. I am in a flare right now. It becomes so bad that I end up vomiting the undigested food while it’s running out the other end.
Between flares, my poops can be normal, it’s usually not, it’s soft and pudding or just not normal. Typically, the colour is brown, it’s yellow or green mostly.
I have my doctors appointment coming up to talk about this. I’m unsure what to bring up. I’ve looked into a few things to ask like asking to check my immune function and iga bloodwork as I’ve been getting sick a lot lately and easier (doesn’t help when others around me are ill with colds).
Is there anything I could ask my doctor when I have the appointment for testing?
My last colonoscopy was probably a year and half ago and it was normal.
I appreciate any advice and support, this is all new for me.
