Should Violet be a type of Purple or should Purple be a type of Violet?

Both are considered the combination of Blue and Red.

Both are in-between Blue and Magenta in the colour wheel.

Both are used a lot with each other despite being different.

But Violet is actually on the Light Spectrum unlike Purple.

Purple is more used in everyday language, but should it be that way?

If Red got the same treatment as Blue, most people would be considering Yellow and Orange types of Red instead of their own colours.

Cyan and Azure are treated like different types of Blue by the vast majority.

Even though Azure is basically the Orange equivalent and Cyan is it's own primary colour.

Meanwhile Orange is not seen as a type of Red, nor is Yellow.
