Hello, looking to rent a car for my upcoming trip to Sicily in late August. Ive been looking at google and reading things online and it seems like a nightmare... scams, ect...

For context, we'll be landing in Catania airport and going to Ortigia, will be using it as a base for our trip. Does anyone have any recommendations for car rental agencies either at the airport or in Syracuse? - also is it necessary to have a car the entire time? (We wont be moving from the easter/south-eastern side of the island, going to break Sicily up into multiple trips instead of trying to see everything in one go)

Also how are the trains? Reliable?
