Camera turns on. Heavy breathing. Night vision flickers.
A guy whispers:
“Okay… okay, it’s working. If anyone finds this… we’re about 6 miles off the trail. Near—”

“—doesn’t matter. Just… don’t come out here.”

Camera pans to trees. Everything is dead quiet. No bugs. No wind.
Friend in background:
“Why is it so quiet?”

A distant sound—like someone calling.
But it’s… wrong.
It repeats the exact same tone twice. Identical.

Voice (faint):
“Helloooo?”

Friend:
“…that’s not an echo.”

Camera zooms into trees.
You can barely make out a figure between trunks. Too tall.
It doesn’t move naturally—more like it shifts positions when the camera glitches.

Friend (panicking):
“Dude… it’s copying you.”

Camera guy:
“What?”

Friend:
“That thing… it said ‘hello’ exactly how you did earlier.”

Sudden loud crack. Like a branch snapping—right behind them.
They spin around.

Nothing there.

The voice comes again, closer now:
“Okay… okay… it’s working…”

It’s repeating the guy’s exact words from the beginning.

Camera guy:
“No—if something happens—”

Camera glitches hard.
For one frame, the figure is right behind them.
Smiling. Face stretched too wide.

They start running. Heavy footsteps. Breathing.
The voice follows them—but now it’s ahead of them.

Voice (perfect mimic):
“Don’t come out here.”

Camera drops.
You see boots run past… but there are three sets of footsteps.

The camera points up.

The thing is standing over it now.
It leans down slowly…

…and whispers in multiple overlapping voices:

“Stay.”
