Is it safe to buy a 4 year old lenovo legion laptop?

Currently gonna be a freshman in college as information technology as my course. I play league, Minecraft, and valo, but sometimes i get the itch to play AAA single player games—then quit without even reaching 10% of the story. Should i buy a gaming laptop or not. Thank you
