LP pilot light for gas fireplace to heat sand battery in a living room

I have a gas fireplace I don't use in a living room which is used. Yes, my art work here is rudimentary and very basic but I believe the idea could be used to heat a 25x30 sf room, or so. I would be willing to remove the fireplace innards as necessary and am not concerned about the looks. My house is huge but I'm only considering this for this one room with a low ceiling that uses electric heat in the ceiling.

Pilot lights use very little fuel and the flame is somewhat adjustable. I'm only looking to keep the room livable, not 80F or anything. I live in an area that can get -35F in the winter but not often or long. Mostly temps are around -10 to 20F throughout the harshest time of winter. Ideas? It is well insulated, has no basement underneath this area and I have no extra money for installing thermal or anything like that. Ideas?
