Medicaid help- OHIO
I(33) was under Medicaid in the state of Ohio because my mother(60) is disabled and is a dependent. She originally applied for Medicaid for me and my brother(24) so I don't know what circumstances led to me, specifically, having the insurance, but I did for years.
At the end of last year/beginning of this year they said my insurance would continue. I had to have a surgery on February 27th, and a month before they sent us a letter saying that my brother and I would be losing our insurance on the 28th. Sure enough, I lost my insurance on the day after my surgery.
Unfortunately, I needed physical therapy, and will need a second surgery, so I have been working to get this insurance back. I have sent them E V E R Y T H I N G they've asked for, all of it, with the only exception being they're asking for Short-Term Disability verification. I am not on Short-Term Disability yet, as I was waiting for after my second surgery before I applied. Today they denied my family SNAP benefits, stating that since my brother was uninterested and I *hadn't* sent in the correct information, we wouldn't get it.
I don't mind being denied SNAP, but it does worry me that they're stating I didn't send them everything when I know I did. I even sent some stuff more than once. Today I sent in some of the stuff ANOTHER time because I was so upset and so worried over it.
What do I do?? I need this second surgery but it'll be up to $54k and if I can't work and don't have insurance I don't know how I'll afford it. My brother is the only one working but his work is spotty-- he's a contractor, with no consistent income.
