We've been living in our current place for a little more than a year and had started right away leaving nuts, meat and what not for the local crows and magpies in our neighborhood (nothing preprocessed).
We've not always been regular with life and vacations. They're generally pretty skittish, making sure we're not in the leaving room and checking if they get an eye contact through the bedroom blinds before picking things up.
We've never interacted. However, this week, after we started leaving se left over meaty bones I used to make beef stock, I noticed 2 pebbles on the balcony. The first one was randomly laying on the border of the balcony and I didn't notice it at first. The second one was laying in the pot of my japanese maple.
I was kind of wondering, so thought that maybe if I put these in a dedicated place, and something new appear in it, then for sure it would be them and not the upstair kid just throwing pebbles on our balcony...
Today, when I came back home, I saw a little peace of wood in the middle of the outdoor rug and not near the previous pebbles, so I'm still unsure if I'm collecting trash or gifts :')
