Enclosureless Dust Collector
Hey All,
Trying to get an understanding of indoor enclosureless dust collector systems. I am looking to provide an enclosureless dust collector in a school wood shop sized below 5000cfm but above 1500cfm. The ductwork will be sized for 4500fpm 20 gauge G90 galvanized steel with cleanouts per NFPA/IFC/IMC. Few questions:
-Is that ductwork still considered hazardous? My understanding is that the hazard comes with dust settling in the ductwork, and at 4500fpm that dust cannot settle and thus will not pose a hazard.
-If the dust collector is located in a room separate from the shop, I'm assuming it should be fire rated at least an hour? What about explosions?
-Does the wood shop require a fire rating?
-No, we do not have a dust hazard analysis. I understand it will be up to the AHJ for what ultimately will be required but am looking for general insight.
Edit: Located in the US.
Thanks!
