How do you guys research a character's occupation? When I use Google I feel like it's not as in-depth as I wanted or I simply can't relate to it. Do you guys also face this?

Editors! Please teach me how to make beautiful character aesthetics, edits, etc. I am always in so much awe whenever I see such edits! Would love to learn.

Guys, I have around 4.85k views on my book, but only 400-something votes. I'm starting to think that maybe it's because of my writing, or I'm just simply not good, but then I've seen readers add it to their completed reading lists even though they haven't voted for it even once. I understand nobody is obligated to like my work, but sometimes it's disheartening to see while taking out my time to write, even when I really can't. Sorry for the rant.

Yesterday, I joined a writers' group on Instagram. It was supposed to provide support to small writers, where they could discuss their books and other topics, but now I'm having second thoughts. They're a bit corny and there are conditions in the GC. There are 5 different GCs, each for a specific purpose, and we will be given books to vote on and comment on as an assignment every weekend. But shouldn't it be genuine? Why would I engage with a book I do not find good? I'm considering leaving it but they all have started following me. It would look like as if I've done it only for followers and shit.
