Hormonal Insomnia?

I have what I think is terrible insomnia. It’s hormonal insomnia. No exaggeration I had it my entire pregnancy, eased up a little in the 2 tri but the insomnia is how I even found out I was pregnant. I am up from 1am to 4am finally going back to sleep around 5am sometimes. But up with hungry baby anywhere from 6-8am bc sweet girl slept all night.

I’m 6 months po now and EBF. Still having insomnia and my baby is sleeping through the night and I am not. I’ve laid there with my eyes closed trying to go back to sleep bc I am sleepy. I’m not worried or stressing about anything but not sleeping. I’ve tried small dose melatonin and 500mg magnesium and it worked only a few times. I work out regularly so my body is tired plus breastfeeding. I do get up sometimes and do something or eat and sometimes I can fall back a sleep but sometimes it just stirs me up more.

By Gods strength I still function in the day. I get my best/most sleep from 8pm-12:30am. Then up basically until morning. When this happened in pregnancy I would just take long naps in the morning but now I have a baby to start the day with. I’m not able to take naps when she does bc it takes me a while to fall asleep and I need to get things done.

Just needing perspective bc I can’t stop hormones in my body. I do want more kids and to EBF so I know this will continue. I don’t want to be a bitter person bc of lack of sleep. Maybe I am getting all I need bc sometimes I’m sleeping when I feel like I’m not if that makes sense. I feel like if someone rubbed my back all night long I could sleep. It’s like I can’t relax at night ( I also experienced this as a child).

It can just be a deep dark angry place for me at night when I’m not sleeping. I’ll take any advice, opinions, thoughts and most importantly prayers.

I also plan to stop breastfeeding soon and give baby bottle with breast milk I have stocked up. Bc we want to get pregnant again in about 6 months after baby is a year old.
