I’m launching on Product Hunt today and trying to understand what actually separates good launches from average ones.

From the outside, it looks like ranking is mostly about upvotes, but when you look closer, the best launches usually have strong comments, clear positioning, good replies from the makers, and people genuinely discussing the product.

For people who have launched before or spend time on Product Hunt:

What do you think matters most on launch day?

Is it early momentum, the maker’s first comment, the demo, the community you bring in, how fast you reply, or how clearly the product is explained?

I’m in the middle of a Product Hunt launch today, and one thing I’m realizing is that upvotes are only one part of it.

The harder part is getting people to actually understand the product and leave thoughtful comments.

Some launches get a lot of “congrats” comments, but the really good ones seem to create proper discussion — people asking questions, challenging the positioning, sharing use cases, or giving feedback.

For people who have launched before or actively use Product Hunt:

What makes you actually comment on a launch page?

Is it the product idea, the founder story, the first comment, the demo, the positioning, or something else?

Currently in the middle of our Product Hunt launch, and honestly, it’s a lot harder than I expected.

We’re currently around #2, but keeping the momentum going is intense. The outreach, comments, replies, checking the page, explaining the product clearly, and trying not to sound spammy - it’s a full-day hustle.

I have a lot more respect now for people who launch properly on Product Hunt. It’s not just “post and wait.”

If anyone here is launching soon or going through it today, happy to share what I’m learning in real time and support where I can.

Product Hunt looks simple from the outside, but once you’re in it, it’s definitely not easy.

Product Hunt launch day looks simple from the outside, but it’s a lot of work when you’re actually doing it.

You’re fixing the page, improving the copy, checking visuals, replying to comments, reaching out to people, and trying to keep the momentum going without sounding annoying.

I’m trying to connect with more people who are building and preparing for launches.

If you’re launching today or in the next few days, feel free to share what you’re building. I’d be happy to take a look & upvote/comment.

We’re building Shadow, an AI meeting assistant that doesn’t just take notes or summarize meetings.

The core idea is: most meetings create more work after they end. You still have to write follow-ups, update tools, send docs, create notes, assign next steps, and remember what was promised.

Shadow tries to handle some of that while the meeting is still happening.

So instead of only giving you a summary after the call, it understands the conversation in real time and helps complete action items during the call itself.

Examples:

  • Drafting a follow-up while the topic is still being discussed
  • Creating notes or docs from what was agreed
  • Tracking next steps before the meeting ends
  • Helping update tools instead of leaving it for later

The bet is that AI meeting tools should move from “here’s what happened” to “here’s what already got done.”

Would love a proper roast on the idea, positioning, and whether this sounds genuinely useful or just like another AI meeting tool with better wording.

What feels unclear, overhyped, or weak?

I’m launching on Product Hunt today and honestly it already feels more intense than I expected.

The page is live, outreach is happening, comments need replies, and I’m trying to keep the momentum going without being annoying or spammy.

For people who have launched before, I’d love to understand what actually matters during the day.

A few things I’m trying to figure out:

  • How often should I share updates?
  • What kind of comments/replies actually help the launch?
  • How do you keep people engaged throughout the day?
  • What should I avoid doing once the launch is live?
  • What’s one thing you wish you had done better on launch day?

Not looking for hacks or fake engagement, just trying to manage the day properly and learn from people who’ve done it before.

We’re launching Shadow on Product Hunt today.

The idea came from a very simple pain: meetings don’t really end when the call ends.

You still have to write the follow-up, update tools, create notes, remember next steps, send docs, and make sure nothing important gets missed. Most AI meeting tools help capture what happened, but the work still stays with you after the call.

Shadow is our attempt to change that.

It doesn’t just capture action items - it helps complete them while the conversation is still happening.

So if a follow-up needs to be drafted, a note needs to be created, an update needs to be made, or a next step needs to be tracked, Shadow helps handle it during the call itself.

We’re launching today and would love to hear what people think of this direction.

Do you think meetings should move from “notes after the call” to “actions completed during the call”?

I’m launching on Product Hunt tomorrow and honestly the prep has been more work than I expected.

The page, copy, visuals, first comment, outreach, comments, timing, and trying to talk about the product without sounding spammy - there are a lot of small things that can go wrong.

I’m using today to do the final checks and would love to learn from people who have launched before.

For anyone who has done a Product Hunt launch:

  • What’s one thing you’re glad you did before launch day?
  • What’s one thing you wish you had prepared earlier?
  • How did you keep the launch active without annoying people?
  • What actually helped you get meaningful comments or feedback?
  • Any last-minute mistakes I should avoid?

Not looking for hacks or fake engagement, just trying to make sure we do it properly.
