He was literally unknown from January-December 1998. He wasn’t mainstream at all, didn’t have a hit song yet, barely anyone in the world except the underground knew who he was.

So how did he already sell 283K first week with SSLP after only 1 month of “My Name is” releasing? Like the song would’ve had to have been so huge to already have that big of a fanbase after only a month of the world hearing you. 283K??? That’s unheard of. Like not even 2 months ago (December 98) he probably wouldn’t even had sold 10K first week.
