I'm a 2005 Chev 2500 Duramax owner, 165,000 on the 6.6 and no problems outside of fuel filter housing leak.. the rest of the truck is 'tired' and needs to be put to rest. So I've been reviewing, test driving a variety of 1500 Silverado's, RST, LT, LTZ with 5.3 and the 3l diesel. Focusing on a newer truck, say 2024, or 2025. I've read all about the problems with the 5.3 engines, the 3l diesels and the 10-speed transmissions. So what am I going to do? I need a truck for versatility, not work... I've yet to drive a 4 banger turbo... so recommendations on model year and engine would be appreciated... one thing that sticks out, you see newer Chev 1500 Silverado everywhere in California... they all can't be bad, right?
