Hi. Wondering if it's worth it to retain an employment lawyer for a better severance package

For 3.9 years worked, was offered 3-weeks (legal ESA) plus 5 weeks for a total of 8-weeks. Was Without cause.

I feel like this is quite low, but don't want it to drag out and risk getting less in the end after legal fees etc...

I have a question regarding this. So the employer (steel manufacturer) is offering severance/ separation pay as a Continuance, meaning I would still receive health/ dental benefits during the few weeks that it lasts. However I would have to wait until it ends to get the ROE. I need an ROE to get EI claim approved.

Under this New temp EI measures, I understand that you can get both simultaneously. Would this apply if I request a lump sum and get the ROE right away?

Temporary Employment Insurance measures to respond to major changes in economic conditions

Under the temporary measure, if your claim or the allocation starts between March 30, 2025, and October 10, 2026, earnings from separation are not deducted from your benefits.
