I spoke with the owner of a cash based clinic here in San Diego, CA and their model is 6-8 patients per day 1-on-1 hour sessions and they cater to more athletic populations. They use AI dictation tools for documentation and my friend who works there says it takes her ~10 mins to complete all her notes for the day. Offering $100k base pay, 17 days PTO, $300 HRA reimbursement, 401k match. They offer dedicated weekly meetings/mentorship and overall seems like a good spot.

I would be taking a pay cut from acute care currently at $112k with a raise in a few months to $120k with $8k raises for the next 3 years. 34 days PTO/sick, free health insurance, 401k match. Easy job with flexible bosses. BUT, I hate it. Or rather, it’s tolerable, just a job. And I would love to work with more athletic populations compared to extremely sick elderly. Only thing is I’m afraid of the pay cut since I got $115k in student loans left (already paid $40k).

I guess I’m searching for advice or experiences from those in similar positions. I think I would be happier day to day and much more excited to use my brain and connect with people more. Still will have to be “on” all day but it would be more engaging. Downside is really the pay and lack of good raise structure.

What do you guys think? Thanks again!!
