Upgrade Custom Surround System or All-In-One?
I've had a tiny 5.1 Yamaha system for years. While I've loved it, it may be time for an upgrade to match my new LG G5 77". I'm debating between a 7.1 A/V receiver with Klipsch RP IIs for center, standing, surrounds plus sub then overheads for Dolby Atmos.
I'm also thinking for the same ~$3K, I could get a LG Sound Suite system to take advantage of the features available with the LG G5.
Let me say off the bat that it's a living room, not a dedicated theatre, and my Generation Jones ears used to know what really good sound was - but after one too many concerts, the upper frequencies of my hearing are shot.
Will I notice a difference between systems? I don't have a wiring problem, so bluetooth surrounds aren't an advantage. I think my wife would prefer the smaller speakers of the Sound Suite, plus the smaller center bar would mean I wouldn't have to raise my TV. What say the hive-mind?
