DHL / UK Border Force returned my Reta shipment after 6 months - vial caps popped and one with glass bottom cut out.
I need to post this because I'm absolutely fuming. The entire experience has been a nightmare and I want people to understand what can happen when shipping research peptides internationally with DHL.
In November 2025 I shipped 3 sealed peptide (Reta) vials via DHL Express from the UK to Janoshik.
The shipment was properly packaged and declared.
Tracking then became stuck at: “Shipment is on hold – Docklands / Enfield UK”
What followed was over 7 months of complete dysfunction.
During that time:
- DHL repeatedly told me the parcel was under “customs/security inspection”
- They refused to provide:
- any inspection reference number
- any seizure reference
- any agency contact
- any timeline
- Multiple complaint cases were opened and then closed without resolution
- I escalated to executive/customer care teams
- I filed an ombudsman complaint
- I requested return-to-sender multiple times
Eventually I discovered through an internal DHL email chain that the shipment had apparently been referred to Border Force because of: “mis declared contents” and “unlabelled white substance”
Despite the fact the shipment contained sealed peptide vials being sent to a testing laboratory and was described as such.
Then the tracking number completely disappeared from DHL’s system.
Today (almost 7 months later) the package was returned to me through the post.
This is the condition it was returned in:
- Two vial caps had been completely removed
- One vial had the entire glass bottom physically cut out
- Powder was exposed and contaminated
- No explanation included
- No seizure notice
- No paperwork
- No chain-of-custody documentation
- No indication of who opened it or why
At this point the contents are obviously unusable so I'm out of pocket both for the shipping fee I paid as it wasn't delivered and the damaged products they sent back.
What infuriates me most is not even the delay, it’s the total lack of accountability and professionalism:
- no transparency
- no procedural clarity
- no documentation
- no communication
- and apparently no obligation to explain why private property was physically destroyed
For anyone considering sending peptides internationally to Janoshik from the UK:
Be aware that if Border Force flags it, you may end up in a black hole where:
- DHL claims they can’t help
- Customs never contact you
- tracking disappears
- and your package eventually comes back destroyed months later.
I still intend further complaints and escalation because this handling is unacceptable.
Curious to know if anyone has gone through similar with DHL or others..?
