Advice for journey to the quant world

I’m 16, so I’m still pretty young, but I’m interested in going into quantitative finance as a career path. I’m not sure it’ll help but I slipped a grade so I’m also going into my senior year. I know that the hours are brutal starting out and internships are extremely rare to come out (I have the plan of being an actuary if things don’t work out), but I think I have a shot at being a quant and I would enjoy it.

I wanted to ask you guys if for any guidance that I might be able to get for my situation, whether it be colleges to apply to, activities to do in high school, subjects to self-study, or something else entirely.

I‘m planning on applying to NYU and UChicago, but I‘m not too confident that I’ll get in. Also, I‘m in Florida so UF might be viable.

I‘m more sure if my math background will help, but I took calc 3 and diff equs last year, and tested out of calculus 1 and 2 the year before. I also self-studied quite a bit, I know fundamental real analysis and what I think is slightly advanced probability theory— I am good at learning math quickly.

Any advice is appreciated, and thank you in advance!
