Official unemployment figures for the Bend economy were updated today. Numbers for January have been finalized and preliminary figures for February have now been made available.
January
The unemployment rate increased to 6.0% in January. 4,298 positions were lost, and 3,125 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate increase. Nonfarm payrolls fell by 1,600. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
February (preliminary)
The unemployment rate fell to 5.8% in February. 704 positions were added, with only 447 workers entering the labor force causing the unemployment rate decrease. The overall Nonfarm Payrolls figure did not change significantly. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
