Hey Everyone,
I’m about to build a Bottlehead Crack that I’ve had in the box for a couple years :( Now that I’m fortunate to have more space to build and use the crack, my plan is to pair it with my Senheisser HD 650’s.
I currently have a Massdrop THX 789 and a Drop Balanced SDAC as my main setup.
I started doing some research on what DAC would be best to pair with the Bottlehead crack and of course, being somewhat out of the scene for a couple years, I’ve fallen down the time upgrade path.
I see reviews on the Topping DX5 ii and the Fiio k13 r2r and immediately like the idea of having an all in one unit with some upgraded features. Both fall in my budget which is around $350 atm.
Am I wrong to think that an R2R, which to my understanding tends to produce a warmer sound, could add too much warmth with a tube amp? Would I notice any difference in sound between my current setup ( 789 & SDAC )and the Topping DX5 ii?
Any guidance to those who may own a Bottlehead Crack and either Topping or the Fiio is greatly appreciated.
