Low Ferritin Treatment
This week I sat for my first iron treatment due to low ferritin levels. After RNY in January 2024 my blood work is great with the exception of iron. My body will absolutely NOT absorb iron from food or supplements. Small price I’m happily paying to be kind to my body. I’m in my early 40’s and am entering perimenopause. I 100% believe that without RNY, my “journey” would have continued to be unhappy and bitter. Since RNY and living under the restrictions and a complete lifestyle overhaul, I have a whole new education and listen to my body in a way I never knew to growing up. This is the nicest and kindest I’ve ever treated my own body. It’s strange to think of it this way but I am my own tamagotchi. I feed this body, I walk it, I put it to bed and try to stick to a healthy sleep schedule. If anyone is on the fence about RNY surgery, I would 100% recommend it with a true commitment to lifestyle change. Before RNY, I knew I was unhappy but I really didn’t understand how much I was sabotaging my own life. This was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
