So fairly recently I wondered.
"If Heaven was opened by Jesus Christ and noone entered Heaven before Him, where did Enoch and Elijah go?"
So I did some digging and found that Enoch and Elijah are in a separate Heaven called the "Atmospheric Heaven", not in the Empyrean Heaven where they gain the beatific vision, and that they are still alive. I read that this was rooted in Aquinas' writings.
I also read that they will remain there until the end times where they will be martyred by the Anti-Christ as the two witnesses prophecied in Revelations.
May I ask, is there any merit to this belief? and if so, why do we consider Enoch and Elijah as saints (since one of the requirements to be canonized is die) if they have not tasted death yet?
