Hi all,
I’m renting a house and noticed something in the back garden that I’m a bit unsure about (photos attached).
There’s a box outside that isn’t properly sealed from the weather. Inside it:
There are grey “weatherproof” outdoor sockets which I know are live, but the protective covers/latches are broken so they don’t close properly.
There’s also a black extension lead in the same box — this looks like a standard indoor extension, not a weatherproof one. I haven’t tested whether it’s live because I’m concerned it may have been exposed to the elements.
There’s also a larger unit labelled “transformer”.
My main concern is whether any of this is safe. If the sockets and/or extension lead are live and have been exposed to rain or moisture, is this a hazard?
Is this something I should be raising with the landlord as an urgent safety issue?
Any advice appreciated.
