We broke up 4 months ago. Together for 3 years, I thought we were solid. He ended it out of nowhere saying he didn't see a future anymore and needed space. No real explanation, just done.

I've been doing pretty well with no contact. Haven't reached out, deleted his number, unfollowed everything. Then last week a mutual friend told me what happened.

Apparently his grandmother passed away a few months before we broke up and left him a pretty significant amount of money. I knew about her passing but he never mentioned any inheritance. His family especially his mom and sister, convinced him I was only with him for the money. They told him I'd try to get him to marry me quickly now that he had money and that I was a gold digger.

Here's the thing - I had NO IDEA about the inheritance. He never told me. I make decent money on my own, I'm a nurse making around $85k. I wasn't with him for money, I was with him because I loved him.

The friend said his family had been in his ear for weeks and he finally caved and ended it. She said he seemed miserable about it but felt like he couldn't trust his own judgment anymore.

I don't know what to do with this information. Part of me wants to reach out and tell him I never knew about any money. Part of me is furious that he believed I was capable of that. Part of me is just heartbroken that his family ruined something real.

I've been doing so well with no contact and now this has completely knocked me sideways. Do I reach out? Do I let it go? I feel like I deserve to at least defend myself but I also know reaching out never helps.

I hate that I know this now. I was finally moving on.
