I’ve only been at my current job for seven months and I’ve noticed really weird things about my boss and money. I work in sales and he is the sales manager. normally there is someone above him, however, they recently retired, so it’s just him in our department and the next higher up would be the vice president of our region. This past week I got an angry email from a client whose bill went up by almost double their monthly payment when I looked into the order, I could see that my manager had increased their total billing by almost $6000. I had asked a couple people around if they had noticed this happening to their accounts and what they’ve done about it. The couple of people has said yes that he has done this to them before and it’s normally around the end of the quarter so we can “ meet our budget and he can get his bonus.” I emailed my boss asking him to explain what happened here he called me into his office and told me I can’t email him things like that. I need to come to him directly, which immediately made me feel like he didn’t want a paper trail. So then he starts to lay in on me like I set this account up wrong and I have a huge problem, even though this account only got passed down to me by someone else who had left the company and again I can see that he was the one that went into the account and changed their billing. I told him I went into the order and I saw that he increased the billing by almost $6000 which is why I’m coming to him. He then proceeded to tell me that I’m not the person that he thought he was hiring and I’m negative and asking if him and I have a problem. It definitely felt like because he now knows what I know he’s going to try and push me out or even just fire me. I talked to another coworker about this situation and she told me that an old coworker there was on the verge of something similar that I’m finding out and when our boss realized he fired him that same day. Anyways, I’m really scared to go to HR because he will probably know that it was me especially because I’m the only one that pushed back on him with this issue and I’ve talked about it with a couple other coworkers so if anything comes from it and he gets fired, they will probably be mad at me and think I’m a rat. I’m also scared because I had gone to HR last month about him because he cussed me out in front of a group of five people and used really horrible language with me and nothing came from it. so I don’t understand why they’re protecting this man. is it because there’s no one else that can take his position right now or is it because HR just simply doesn’t care ? If I go to them this time and they don’t do anything again, but he knows it was me or can at least conclude that it was me. I know I will be retaliated against an Arizona’s a right to work state so I’m sure he would just fire me for no reason
